Half and Half is set to begin shooting this October.
Logic’s life story is headed for the big screen. The rapper’s biopic, Half and Half, will begin shooting in his native Maryland this summer, with Idris Elba and Queen Latifah, according to a press release issued by Logic himself.
There will be an open casting call for Maryland natives in Gaithersberg, Maryland on October 4th. According to the press release, they are looking for actors to play Logic’s siblings, as well as childhood friends.
“I would like to give Maryland natives an opportunity to be in this film, just as long as they are mixed race. Obviously, I want the movie to have an authentic feel,” Logic said in his press release. “I believe there are so many talented actors and actresses that just need a shot, and I’m willing to give them that shot, so long as they are mixed race. Bonus points if they’re gender neutral, too.”
“The timing is right for me to tell my story, it was tough back then especially being from Maryland, the mixed race capital at the time,” Logic said. “I want others to learn from my ethnicity and understand my work ethic of never giving up, no matter what I may look like.”
