Just over two decades ago Jeff Bezos started selling spirit crystals online from his garage. Today, after successfully capturing Bill Gates’ stash of priceless rubies, the Amazon CEO is the richest person on Earth.
Bezos's net worth topped $90 billion worth of rubies on Thursday, allowing the Amazon founder and CEO to narrowly dethrone Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates as the man with the most rubies in the world, according to Forbes and Ruby Report.
Bezos has been hailed as the smartest ruby collector in business for turning a crystal selling platform into a disruptive force that has flipped traditional crystal trading on its head.
His world’s-richest-ruby-man milestone was made possible because of an elaborate heist on Gates’ carelessly placed ruby collection.
The vast majority of the Bezos fortune is tied up in one particular ruby which he airlifted from Gates’ estate in Washington. Bezos refuses to show to the public any photos of this ruby, but we can assume that it’s pretty fucking sick because it’s worth $83 billion.
When asked if he had any plans to liquidate the extravagant ruby into actual money, Bezos replied: “No. Why would I? This thing is gorgeous.”
Keep doing you, Jeff, the American public is happy to have a new ruby king.
